The handstand is commonly known as "na da ding", in the Han Dynasty it was called "dao zhi", in the Eastern Jin Dynasty it was called "nixing", in the Tang Dynasty it was called "zaidao", in the Ming Dynasty it was called "shan qinglong", and so on. Inverted fitness has long been practiced and proven in the world and in history by the sports, martial arts, and medical communities. Medical scientists highly praise inversion exercise: standing upside down for five minutes is equivalent to sleeping for two hours. At present, some developed Western countries are actively advocating people to practice handstand every day, especially in the United States, Britain, Sweden, Germany and other places.

In yoga texts, Salamba Sirsasana is called the king of all yoga poses. It is one of the most important yoga poses and is also sought after by many yoga enthusiasts. Salamba means support and Sirsa means head. This is a pose that uses the head as support. Mastering this pose can increase the practitioner's sense of physical and mental balance and self-control.

Why practice handstand? Now let's talk about standing upright. Although the upright posture is a distinctive feature of humans that distinguishes them from other animals, if people stand upright for a long time, due to the effect of gravity, it will bring three disadvantages to the human body:

1. The blood circulation changes from horizontal to vertical, causing insufficient blood supply to the brain and overload of the cardiovascular system. In mild cases, it causes baldness, blurred vision, gray hair, lack of energy, fatigue, and premature aging; in severe cases, it causes brain diseases and heart diseases.

2. Internal organs such as the heart and stomach gradually move downward under the influence of gravity. It causes many gastrointestinal and heart organ sagging diseases, causes fat accumulation in the abdomen and thighs, and produces fat accumulation in the waist and abdomen.

Third, under the action of gravity, the muscles in the neck, shoulders, back and waist bear more loads, causing excessive tension, resulting in muscle strain, cervical vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae, periarthritis of the shoulder and other diseases.

Therefore, to overcome the imperfections in human evolution, drugs alone are not enough, but also require physical exercise, and the preferred exercise method is human inversion.

Benefits of Asanas

1. Inversion changes the body's blood circulation, improves blood supply to the head, enhances intelligence and reaction ability, and achieves the effect of refreshing the mind and increasing intelligence. People who suffer from insomnia, memory loss, and mental exhaustion can recover by practicing this asana regularly and correctly. Therefore, this posture has many benefits for people who engage in mental work and are under high pressure for a long time in the workplace.

2. Change the pressure on various organs of the body, adjust muscle tension, reduce or even eliminate the inherent pressure between joints, and have certain effects on preventing and treating low back pain, sciatica and arthritis.

3. Eliminate constipation or other endocrine system diseases and relieve symptoms of varicose veins in the lower limbs.

4. Reduce fat and slim down, making the body more fit and beautiful, and can effectively reduce the formation of facial wrinkles, delay aging, and have a youthful effect.

5. Reduce stress, eliminate negative emotions such as depression, pessimism, anxiety, etc., allow energy to flow harmoniously in the body, and long-term practice is helpful for mental health.

Regular practice of Headstand allows healthy and pure blood to flow into brain cells, which makes brain cells more active, thereby enhancing thinking ability and making the mind clearer. This pose is a great nourishment for those whose brains tire quickly, and it also ensures that the pituitary and pineal glands receive adequate blood supply. Our growth, health, and vitality depend on the proper functioning of these two glands.
