Where do the biceps originate and attach?

The biceps is the most important muscle tissue in the hand. Apart from the biceps, the only muscle left on the arm is the triceps. The division between the triceps and biceps is not very obvious, which leads to some people's lack of sufficient understanding of this part, and the exercise effect does not achieve the expected effect. So, where are the starting and ending points of the biceps? Let’s take a look together below.

1: Biceps origin and insertion

The main muscle groups that move the elbow joint: The main muscle groups that move the elbow joint belong to the upper arm muscles and forearm muscles according to their location. They originate from the scapula and humerus and insert into the radius and ulna. When contracted, they enable the forearm to flex and extend. The main muscles that flex the elbow. Located in front of the frontal axis of the elbow joint, there are the biceps brachii, brachialis, brachioradialis and pronator teres.

Location and shape of the biceps brachii: Located subcutaneously on the front of the upper arm, the upper part is covered by the deltoid and pectoralis major muscles. The belly of the muscle is fusiform, and its outline is clearly visible when the elbow is flexed. This muscle has long and short biceps, with muscle bundles arranged in parallel, making it a biarticular muscle.

2. Biceps function

When in near-fixed contraction, the upper arm is flexed at the shoulder joint, and the forearm is flexed and externally rotated at the elbow joint. When the forearm is in an externally rotated position, the muscle strength can be fully used to flex the elbow; when the forearm is in a neutral position or internally rotated position, the muscle strength used to flex the elbow is gradually weakened. When performing distal fixed contraction, bend the upper arm at the elbow joint and bring it closer to the forearm. When this muscle contracts, it can also tense the forearm fascia and intermuscular septa, thereby providing additional support structure for the forearm muscles.

Well, after reading the above introduction, I believe you already know where the starting and ending points of the biceps are. Having well-developed biceps will not only make us stronger, but also more muscular, so it is necessary to exercise them. Exercises such as push-ups and dumbbells are very beneficial for exercising the biceps.
