What are the symptoms of nephrotic syndrome?

Push-ups are a popular sport. Young people and children alike are willing to do a few push-ups. It is both fun and a good exercise. But is push-ups suitable for everyone? The editor received a question today: Are there friends who have nephrotic syndrome? Can you do push-ups? The editor would like to introduce to you that if it is really harmful to the patient, it is better to do less.

Push-ups are a popular exercise. Everyone from a 90-year-old man to a 6-year-old child can do a few push-ups. It is also a test of time and endurance. It can be compared with speed, quantity, and even different postures. It is a basic training in daily exercise and physical education classes, especially in military physical training. Push-ups mainly exercise the muscles of the upper limbs, waist and abdomen, especially the pectoral muscles. It is a very simple and easy but very effective strength training method.

Nephrotic syndrome is a group of clinical symptoms characterized by massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, severe edema and hyperlipidemia. The appearance of protein is due to kidney damage caused by various reasons, which leads to increased permeability of the glomerular filtration membrane and protein leakage. Edema is caused by kidney damage and water and sodium retention.

Western medicine's first choice for the treatment of nephrotic syndrome is hormones and other symptomatic drugs to lower indicators, but this only temporarily controls or reduces protein leakage and does not repair the damaged kidneys. The disease will easily recur once encountering colds, fatigue, infections, etc., and the condition will worsen with each recurrence.

Patients with nephrotic syndrome cannot do any exercise during their illness. Patients with nephrotic syndrome can start rehabilitation training and appropriate exercise one year after recovery, but not strenuous exercise or overwork. It is not advisable to do overly strenuous or rapid exercise. Walking or Tai Chi are good options, but the time should not be too long.

After the editor’s explanation, friends with nephrotic syndrome will know that during the course of the disease, it is not suitable for them to engage in physically demanding exercises such as push-ups, running, and sit-ups. Because these exercises will make the body too tired and are not conducive to the improvement of the disease. Therefore, it is not too late for friends who are sick to exercise after they recover.
