Exercise for blood pressure control

Exercise for blood pressure control

We know that exercise plays a very important role in our human body. Regular exercise can effectively improve our body's immunity and disease resistance, so many people have the good habit of exercising, but we may not know that exercise is actually beneficial for controlling our blood pressure. Exercise has a good effect on blood pressure control. Let’s take a look at the following introduction to the effect of exercise on blood pressure control.

Exercise is very effective in controlling blood pressure. Patients with high blood pressure can exercise appropriately to control blood pressure. So which exercises should we choose to be more effective for blood pressure?

Numerous studies have shown that regular aerobic exercise can effectively prevent and treat high blood pressure. Diastolic blood pressure exercise response independently predicted hypertension in men and women with odds ratios of 4.2 and 2.2, respectively. After adjusting for age, baseline blood pressure, body fat, and other confounding factors, the relative risk of hypertension in the least active men was 1.9 times higher than in the more active group.

Studies in women did not find a significant and independent relationship between physical activity level and the risk of developing hypertension. The exercise recommendations published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend: 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (including brisk walking, jogging, swimming, mountain climbing, various ball sports, etc.) at least 5 days a week. In the study, people who exercised regularly had lower diastolic blood pressure than those who did not exercise regularly, and most of them mainly walked (accounting for 49.4%), with exercise frequency of about 6.8 times/week, and the average exercise time was 54.5s, while those who did not exercise regularly accounted for about 24.4%. It can be seen that most patients can actively participate in sports, and the number of exercises is reasonable and the time is long enough, but the exercise method is too single. This may be because the population selected in the study is mostly elderly people with limited mobility. At the same time, due to the social environment or the poor self-regulation ability of the elderly, and the lack of care from family members and medical staff, more community activity venues should be established and various fitness activities suitable for the elderly should be organized, such as Tai Chi, gateball, Qigong and other aerobic exercises.

In addition, exercise can also affect the treatment of hypertension. After giving exercise guidance to patients with mild to moderate hypertension, it was found that the systolic and diastolic blood pressures of the exercise group decreased significantly. For hypertensive patients who have been treated with medication, physical exercise can have a synergistic antihypertensive effect, thereby reducing the types and dosages of antihypertensive drugs used. The decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients who exercise regularly is significantly greater than that in those who do not exercise regularly, and the blood pressure lowering efficiency is higher than that in those who do not exercise regularly. It can be seen that regular exercise plays a very important role in improving the blood pressure lowering rate.

Above we introduced the many benefits of exercise. Regular exercise can improve our physical fitness, make our immune function and disease resistance stronger. Exercise is very effective in controlling blood pressure, so we can exercise more to control blood pressure. I believe the above introduction is helpful to everyone.
