Weight gain after exercise

Weight gain after exercise

There are many ways to exercise, such as running, aerobic exercise, etc. These methods are beneficial to the human body, including weight loss. However, sometimes some abnormal situations may occur, including the situation where weight increases instead of decreases after exercise. There are certain solutions to this situation. So what should you do if your weight increases instead of decreases after exercise?

Increasing muscle proportion and losing weight through exercise will not only consume fat, but also increase bone density, increase muscle mass and volume, and strengthen muscle function, thereby increasing the proportion of muscle in body composition. If girls lose fat while gaining muscle, the weight of muscle is higher than that of fat. The volume ratio of muscle and fat of the same weight is 1:3. Therefore, it may happen that your weight increases instead of decreases after exercise. This is actually a good thing, as it can help shape your body.

If you did not exercise before the increase of glycogen in your body, and now suddenly exercise and experience weight gain, it is generally not an increase in fat gain but an increase in glycogen and water retention in the body. After exercise, with a proper diet, liver glycogen can be replenished quickly. In this process, the body will store a large amount of water at a ratio of 1:3 of glycogen. That is, if the body wants to store 100g of glycogen, it needs to store 3 times more water, which means the total weight increases by 400g. This results in an increase in weight after exercise.

Gaining weight is not gaining fat. Losing weight and reducing fat are not the same thing. Weight loss refers to a decrease in total body weight, including muscle, water, fat, and other substances. And what girls call weight gain after exercise does not mean an increase in fat. Moreover, because fat is consumed relatively slowly, when fat has not been consumed in the early stages, muscle gain will naturally lead to weight gain.

It is very common to stop losing weight or even gain one or two pounds during the plateau period of exercise. The so-called plateau period refers to a stage in the weight loss process where the weight does not decrease or shows a rebound trend for two weeks or even longer, which means that it may increase.
