For a moderate-intensity, relaxing workout, the breaststroke is a great choice. Generally speaking, it is best to swim in a swimming pool with a water temperature of 24℃-27℃.

The biggest downside to swimming is that the water in many swimming pools is chlorinated. Chlorinated water may irritate your eyes, skin or hair, and the membranes of your upper respiratory tract. You can wear eye protection and/or nose plugs to solve this problem. If you're lucky, you may be able to find a swimming pool that uses hydrogen peroxide or ozone as a disinfectant, both of which are less harsh than chlorine.
