Calcium Gluconate

Calcium Gluconate

When talking about calcium gluconate, we have to talk about calcium first. Calcium is a very important element in the human body. It is the most important substance that makes up bones and teeth. In addition, it is also an important substance for maintaining the normal function of human nerve and muscle tissues. If the calcium content in the human body is insufficient, which is what we usually call calcium deficiency, then diseases such as urticaria, hypocalcemia convulsions, acute hypocalcemia, dermatitis, and acute eczema will occur, and severe cases may even cause fractures. The biggest function of calcium gluconate is that it can promote the absorption of calcium in the human body and increase the calcium content in the body, thereby treating the above diseases and symptoms caused by calcium deficiency in the human body. Calcium gluconate can not only treat various diseases caused by calcium deficiency in the human body, but also treat metallic magnesium poisoning.

Calcium gluconate is a colorless, odorless, crystalline powder that dissolves easily in boiling water but is insoluble in alcohol. It can be taken directly orally or injected. But be sure to avoid contact between calcium gluconate and eyes and human skin. The molecular formula of calcium gluconate is Ca(C6H11O7)2 or can be written as Ca(C6H11O7)2·H2O, which is actually the product of glucose and calcium carbonate under certain conditions.

In addition to the medicinal functions that we are all familiar with, calcium gluconate actually has another more common but unknown use, which is making tofu pudding. When it comes to tofu pudding, you may still not be very clear about it. But if I tell you another name for tofu pudding, you will definitely be very familiar with it, that is, tofu pudding. Adding an appropriate amount of calcium gluconate to soybean milk and solidifying the soybean milk will form tofu pudding. You may ask, isn't calcium gluconate a medicine? How can it be put into food? Don't be afraid of this, because according to the "Hygiene Standards for the Use of Food Nutrient Fortifiers" promulgated by our Ministry of Health in 1993: Calcium gluconate can be used as a food additive.
