Can children's vision be improved through exercise? How many parents are kept in the dark?

Myopia is a condition in which the eyes cannot see distant objects clearly but can see close objects clearly. When the eye is in a relaxed state of accommodation, parallel light rays are refracted by the eye's refractive system and their focus falls in front of the retina. So what are the methods to correct myopia?

Nowadays, the number of young people suffering from myopia is increasing day by day. After a summer vacation, many children will join the ranks of myopia again. Why are there so many myopic people among modern people? In the early 1970s, 25% of Americans were myopic; 30 years later, that proportion had risen to 42%, with similar trends seen in other parts of the world.

Children who stay indoors for a long time are prone to myopia

Children's eyesight is not fully developed yet. Staring at the TV or computer screen for a long time can easily cause visual fatigue, which can lead to myopia. Parents should pay more attention to their children's living and learning habits. If they find that their children tend to lean forward when looking at things, or have difficulty seeing the words on the blackboard, squint, or have a bad reading posture, they should take their children for a check-up in time.

The rapid increase in myopia seems to be attributed to a feature of modern life: the increasing amount of artificial light indoors. Researchers believe that bright outdoor light helps children's developing eyes maintain the proper distance between the lens and the retina.

Dim room light doesn't seem to provide the same feedback. Therefore, if children stay indoors for too long, their eyes cannot develop properly, the distance between the lens and the retina will be too large, and they will not be able to see distant objects clearly.

Exercises to correct myopia:

(1) Eye exercises: By using different massage techniques such as "rubbing", "squeezing", "pressing" and "pinching" on different acupoints such as Tianyao, Jingming, Sibai, Taiyang, Cuanzhu, Yuyao, Sizhukong, Tongzilao and Chengqi, the effects of unblocking meridians, nourishing qi and blood, relieving fatigue, improving vision and preventing myopia can be achieved.

(2) Eye rotation method: Regular eye rotation training can reduce the degree of myopia or presbyopia. The specific steps are as follows:

a. Close your eyes and move your eyes left and right: Close your eyes and move your eyes from right to left and in the opposite direction at the same time 30 to 50 times.

b. Open your eyes and move them left and right: Open your eyes and move your eyes from right to left and in the opposite direction at the same time 30 to 50 times.

c. Rub the eyes with the back of the first joint of the thumb: Close your eyes and rub the upper eyelids with the back of the first joint of both thumbs until they are slightly warm. Repeat rubbing from inside to outside for 8×8 beats.

d. Open your eyes and rotate your eyeballs: Rotate your eyeballs clockwise and counterclockwise 20 to 30 times, rest for 2 minutes and then do it again.
