"Soft addiction" is a new term proposed by American psychologists, which refers to compulsive habits, behaviors or emotions. Basic daily behaviors, such as eating, reading, surfing the Internet, watching TV, sleeping, etc., if one of these things brings you more energy, more learning and growth, and makes you feel the meaning of life, then these may not be considered "soft addictions." But if these behaviors leave you feeling drained, numb, and depressed, you may be developing a "soft addiction." For example, they cannot control the urge to surf the Internet, spending more than three hours online a day, chatting with others or playing online games; they watch TV for more than four hours a day, and almost all of their spare time in the evening is devoted to watching TV, and are unwilling to participate in other social activities. "Soft addiction" not only consumes physical strength and energy, but also conceals true emotional experiences, numbs the will, and makes people lazy. The most important thing is that precious time is slipping away between your fingers, and the life you desire is getting further and further away. Some people always complain that they don’t have time to exercise, but in fact their time is wasted on some boring things. Experts believe that these nerve-numbing activities cannot meet deep emotional needs, such as being loved, comforted, a sense of belonging, a sense of accomplishment, etc. But on a superficial level, they seem to make people temporarily happy, without too much pressure, especially when they encounter difficulties in life, they can get a short-term sense of transcendence. It takes two things to get rid of "soft addiction": one is to be ruthless, and the other is to take the right medicine. To be ruthless means to have a hard heart and force yourself to change. Reflect on your lifestyle, identify the "soft addictions" that "drain" your physical energy, and then replace them with positive life experiences. Such as meditating, reading, volunteering, or learning a new skill that allows you to fully utilize your creativity. The important thing to remember is that everyone has the potential to develop soft addictions, and if you can identify them in time, you can find your own way to overcome them. To prescribe the right medicine for the disease means to take measures according to the type of "soft addiction". To get rid of Internet addiction, you can first cut your Internet time in half, put an alarm clock next to the computer to supervise yourself, and force yourself to turn off the computer immediately when the alarm rings. Gradually shorten your Internet time until it is within 30 minutes a day. You can also reduce your Internet time by improving yourself by reading books, joining fitness clubs, or attending training courses. To get rid of the "soft addiction" to TV, the first step is to control yourself from watching TV for a day or two; then find some ways to relieve anxiety, such as practicing half an hour of yoga, or taking a walk outdoors. Experts suggest that you try to divert your energy. You might as well write down your thoughts on paper to vent your emotions, and then analyze them yourself, or ask a trusted friend to help you analyze them together. Perhaps you will find the boredom of this idea and give up. |
