What kind of sport is sprinting?

Sprinting is very common in our lives and is one of the must-have events in sports games. Many people also use it as a way to exercise. Here, we must first understand what kind of sport sprinting is, so that we can do it better in daily exercise and avoid the harm to the body caused by inappropriate exercise. So, what sport is sprinting? Let’s take a look at it together below.

Sprinting is a type of track and field event, which generally includes: 50 meters, 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4×100 meters relay, 4×400 meters relay, etc. Its sport characteristics are: people run a specified distance on a certain track at the same time and at the fastest speed, and the first person to finish is the winner; in terms of human body function energy supply, it is manifested as the human body maximizing human instincts and supplying energy through anaerobic metabolism.

Sprint start technique

The starting technique includes three stages: "get ready", "get ready", and "fire the gun" (or "run").

1. After hearing the command "Get in position", take 2-3 deep breaths, walk briskly to the starting block, support yourself with your hands, step your feet in front of you and on the footrest of the starting block, kneel on your back knee, place your hands close to the back edge of the starting line, stretch your arms, keep your shoulders parallel to the starting line, place your hands a little wider than your shoulders, put your four fingers together and your thumbs together to form an "eight" shape. Relax your neck naturally, look about 40-50 cm below you, and listen carefully to the command "Ready".

2. When you hear the "Ready" command, take a breath and lift your hips steadily to the same height as your shoulders.

Prepare

The starting position should be stable, with both feet touching the starting blocks and the footboard, and the attention should be highly focused.

3. When you hear the gunshot, quickly push your hands off the ground, bend your elbows and swing your arms back and forth vigorously, quickly push your legs against the starting blocks to move your body forward and upward, and quickly and powerfully stretch your hip, knee, and ankle joints with your front leg.

★Speed up after the start

The acceleration run after the start is a running section from the time the hind legs push off the starting blocks to the middle of the run. Its task is to make full use of the forward momentum and gain high speed as quickly as possible in a shorter distance. When the hind leg pushes off the starting block and finishes the forward swing, it will actively press down to the ground. The landing of the first step should be as close as possible to the projection point of the body's center of gravity, and the foot will quickly turn to the back push after it touches the ground. After the front leg pushes off the starting block, it will also quickly bend the knees and swing forward. In the first few steps after starting, the two feet move along two straight lines not far apart. As the running speed increases, the places where the two feet land gradually converge to the two sides of the assumed straight line. The acceleration distance is generally about 25-30 meters.

Folding standing start

Stand with your feet one to one and a half feet apart, bend your knees to lower your center of gravity, lean forward, bend your elbow on the opposite side of your front leg and put it in front, and your back arm behind you. When you hear the command "run", push the ground with both feet and rush forward quickly. Key point: move the center of gravity forward. Difficulty: start quickly.

From the above, it can be seen that sprinting is an anaerobic exercise and it also has many benefits, such as improving reaction sensitivity and increasing the body's ability to resist lactic acid. Long-term practice can also improve one's own quality and promote the ability to adapt to the environment. But you can't exercise blindly to keep fit. On the contrary, inappropriate exercise can cause harm to your body. You must understand the nature of the exercise before exercising so that you can exercise healthily.
