What is a sports injury?

Nowadays, many people are accustomed to doing exercise every day, which can not only exercise the body, but sometimes also help lose weight. But recently, some people often mention a kind of sports injury, which sounds like sports can cause injuries. This statement makes many people afraid to exercise, for fear that something might happen. So what exactly are sports injuries? Next, we will ask authoritative experts to explain it to you.

Various injuries that occur during sports. The location of the injury is related to the sport and the characteristics of the specific technique. For example, gymnasts often suffer injuries to their wrists, shoulders and waist, which are related to the support, shoulder rotation, jumping, somersault and other techniques involved in gymnastic movements. Tennis elbow often occurs in tennis players and javelin throwers. The main causes of injuries are: insufficient training level, poor physical fitness, incorrect movements, lack of self-protection ability; no warm-up before exercise or insufficient warm-up, poor physical condition, lack of training to adapt to the environment, and improper organization of teaching and competition work.

Sports injuries are more acute than chronic. Improper treatment of acute injuries, untimely or premature training may turn into chronic injuries. The principles of exercise and treatment after injury are:

(1) Reasonably arrange post-injury training to maintain the good training status that athletes have already achieved and prevent "training stop syndrome" caused by sudden training stop after injury;

(2) Use protective belts properly during exercise to prevent strain, reinjury or relaxation of tendons and ligaments;

(3) Strengthen local treatment, improve the metabolism of the injured area, eliminate edema, and prevent adhesion and contraction of deep scars. Prevention should follow the principles of exercise training, scientifically arrange the amount of exercise, improve physical fitness, and strengthen medical supervision and safety education. Teaching should also improve students' ability to protect each other and themselves.

Prevention of sports injuries

1. Learn the knowledge of preventing sports injuries and overcome the paralysis mentality.

2. Observe discipline, obey orders, do a good job in organization, and take necessary and complete measures, such as: checking sports venues and equipment, and wearing appropriate clothing and shoes.

3. Do warm-up exercises before any intense exercise or competition.

4. Choose activities according to your own situation and control the amount of exercise appropriately.

5. Master the essentials of exercise and strengthen protection and assistance.

6. Strengthen medical supervision and improve self-care awareness.

2. Common sports injuries and their treatment

1. Abrasion (damage caused by friction on the skin surface)

Treatment: A. Mild abrasions: If the wound is clean, it can usually heal itself by applying mercurochrome or gentian violet.

B. Severe abrasions: (first need to stop bleeding) cold compress method (explanation), limb elevation method, bandage pressure bandage method, finger direct pressure hemostasis method.

Cold compress: It can cause blood vessels to contract, reduce local congestion, lower tissue temperature and inhibit nerve sensation, thus having the effects of stopping bleeding, relieving pain and preventing swelling. It is often used for acute closed soft tissue injuries.

2. Nosebleed (bleeding due to external impact on the nose)

Treatment: The injured person should be made to sit down, tilt his head back, breathe through the mouth temporarily, plug the nostrils with gauze, and apply a cold towel to the forehead and nose bridge, which can usually stop the bleeding.

3. Sprain (when the range of joint movement exceeds the normal limit, the ligaments, tendons and muscles attached to the joints are torn)

Treatment of severe sprain: Stop bleeding and relieve pain first. You can elevate the injured limb, rinse the injured area with cold water or apply a cold towel to cool it to constrict blood vessels, reduce bleeding and relieve pain. Do not rub the area randomly to prevent increased bleeding. Then put cotton pads on the injured area and apply pressure with a bandage. Use hot compresses 48 hours after the injury to promote the absorption of blood stasis.

4. Contusion (subcutaneous tissue, muscle, ligament or other tissue is injured by a blunt instrument or direct external force, while the skin of the injured area is often intact or only slightly damaged). Treatment is the same as (3).

5. Concussion (the head is hit by external force or collides with a hard object, causing excessive vibration of brain nerve cells and fibers.)

Concussions can be divided into mild, moderate and severe.

Treatment: For patients with mild concussion, they can rest in bed for one or two days and then participate in appropriate activities after a week. For moderate or severe concussion, the injured person must be kept absolutely quiet, lie on his back on a flat surface, apply cold compresses to the head, keep warm, and be sent to the hospital for treatment in time.
