What to do if your calves ache after exercise?

The comfortable life nowadays has caused more and more people to become lazier, and they rarely have time to exercise. When we do not exercise for a long time, suddenly exercising a lot will cause our calves to become very sore, and it will take several days to return to normal. I believe everyone has encountered this situation, so what should we do?

It is generally believed that muscle soreness is caused by insufficient oxygen supply during muscle exercise, which relies on anaerobic decomposition of glycogen to release energy for muscle contraction. Anaerobic decomposition of sugar produces a metabolite called lactic acid. If it cannot be eliminated in time, lactic acid will accumulate in the muscles and blood. Due to tissue ischemia, hypoxia, and stimulation of acidic substances, as well as factors such as muscle damage or muscle spasm caused by exercise, muscle soreness can be caused.

1. Exercise should be gradual. After a period of adaptive training, the amount of exercise that originally caused muscle soreness will cause less symptoms.

2. Warm the area and apply medication. Soaking in warm water after exercise can relieve muscle soreness. Especially after soaking in hot water or hot springs, blood circulation is accelerated, capillaries expand, and inflammatory mediators and lactic acid in the blood are effectively removed. Local application of active oils, pastes or massage emulsions can also relieve

pain.

3. Stretching exercises can relieve muscle soreness. Stretching muscles can accelerate muscle relaxation and relieve antagonist muscles, and help the recovery of tense muscles.

4. Do a good job of warm-up and cool-down during exercise. Adequate warm-up and proper cool-down can help prevent or relieve muscle soreness.

5. Take appropriate amounts of protein nutritional supplements to maintain muscle elasticity and strength, such as eating more lean meat, fish, etc. In addition, exercises that enhance body flexibility can also reduce muscle soreness.

If you feel sore in your calves after exercise, it reminds you that you should exercise regularly. Exercising more can ensure that your physique becomes stronger and you are more able to resist the invasion of various viruses. There are so many modern diseases. In addition to problems with eating habits and environment, another problem is lack of exercise. For your health, you should exercise more.
