Can I exercise if I have phlebitis?

Phlebitis is a vascular disease, which means that the blood vessels begin to become inflamed. When the blood vessels become inflamed, people will be puzzled and don’t know when they contracted the disease, let alone what the cause of the disease is. If you suffer from this phlebitis, most people feel that they can adjust it through exercise, so that the treatment effect of the disease is better. So, can you exercise if you have phlebitis?

During the onset of phlebitis, you should avoid strenuous exercise, long periods of standing and sitting. Each time should not exceed half an hour to avoid lower limb edema and excessive exudation. The affected limb should be raised. If you must stand or sit for a long time for work, you should move around once every half an hour or lie down and raise your feet for three minutes. During the recovery period of phlebitis, appropriate exercise should be done in the form of walking. Each walking time should not exceed one hour and the distance should not exceed two kilometers. Hot compresses, physical therapy, and bathing in water temperatures above 40 degrees are prohibited, and entering the sauna steam room is not allowed.

Suggestions: Thrombophlebitis should be treated with Buerger's maneuvers to promote the establishment of collateral circulation and relieve pain. Lie flat on your back and raise the affected limb for 1-2 minutes, then let your legs hang down by the bed for 2-3 minutes, while doing ankle and toe flexion and extension exercises, and then lay the affected limb flat to rest for a few minutes. Repeat the exercise 4-5 times, 3-4 times a day. Rest and exercise properly.

Phlebitis is a disease that can be treated with exercise, but if you want to improve it with exercise, you must pay attention to regular and reasonable exercise. Strictly speaking, not all exercises can be done by patients with phlebitis. If patients with phlebitis are not suitable for these exercises but do them anyway, then the phlebitis will worsen and it will be more difficult to treat.
