What should you drink after exercise?

Exercise is something that many people do on a daily basis, and it is even a daily homework for some people. Especially after strenuous exercise, sweating makes people feel very refreshed. However, after exercise, many people drink a lot of water or some beverages, which makes them feel very refreshed. But what kind of beverages should you drink after exercise? What kind of drinks are helpful to the body without any harm?

Rehydrate before exercise: It is best to replenish water with sports drinks containing a certain amount of sugar and electrolytes, and consume the minimum amount multiple times, 100-200ML each time, divided into 2-4 times. General fitness enthusiasts can also prepare their own pre-workout drinks according to the following recipe: add 4 grams of salt, 80-100 grams of glucose or sucrose and 150 ml of orange juice to every 1000 ml of cold boiled water.

This not only replenishes water, but also replenishes salt, glucose and vitamins, thereby balancing the water and salt metabolism in the body.

Replenish water during exercise: For general fitness enthusiasts, if the exercise time does not exceed 60 minutes each time, it is sufficient to replenish with pure water. If it is longer than 60 minutes, sports drinks containing electrolytes and sugar should be supplemented.

Rehydration after exercise: Drinks containing sugar and electrolytes should be supplemented. The sugar content of the beverage can be 6%-8%, and the sodium salt content can be 30-40mmol/L to promote rapid recovery of plasma volume and rapid rehydration of tissue cells.

No carbon dioxide, no caffeine, no alcohol: Carbon dioxide can cause stomach bloating and discomfort; caffeine has a certain diuretic effect, which will increase water loss, and exercise itself will lose a lot of water and electrolytes; in addition, caffeine and alcohol also have a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, which is not conducive to recovery after exercise.

Patients with hypertension should not drink too much sports drinks. Light exercise itself is good for health, but for people with high blood pressure, drinking sports drinks after exercise can increase their blood pressure.

After exercise, many people will drink some ice water, carbonated drinks, or eat some ice cream to relieve the feeling of heat. In fact, this is very harmful to the body because the body is relatively hot after just after high-intensity exercise. If you eat such stimulating ice drinks all of a sudden at this time, it can easily cause stomach pain.
