The arch is one of the structures on the sole of the foot that acts like a slingshot, responsible for propelling the body, absorbing shock when walking, adapting to the terrain and increasing stability. If the arch is not obvious or is too high, it will affect the stability of walking, so when choosing running shoes, you need to match the arch of the sole of the foot.

The arch of the foot can be divided into three types: normal arch, low arch and high arch. If you want to know which type of arch you have, you can do a small test - wet one of your feet, then step on a piece of white paper, and pay attention to the curvature of the inner side of the sole that appears.

Normal arch: The ankle slightly rotates inward when walking, which plays a natural shock-absorbing function. People with normal arch have less trouble buying shoes, and most running shoes are suitable. Low arches: When walking, the ankles rotate inward too much and for too long, causing the arches to drop, which can easily lead to foot fatigue and knee pain. Some stability running shoes claim to reduce pronation, so look for these when purchasing. In addition, you should choose shoes with sturdy soles and uppers and arch pads on the insoles. High foot arches: The ankles do not rotate internally enough when walking, resulting in insufficient shock absorption of the body, making the waist, back and knee joints susceptible to trauma. When choosing running shoes, you must choose models with shock absorption function.
